*3. HIGHLIGHT FROM CLASS (10 POINTS)*

Write 6 or more sentences about what you learned from the discussions in Breakout Room 1 and Breakout Room 2. Organize your answer into two sections (one for each breakout room).

Answer:

Breakout Room 1

During our Breakout Room 1 discussion, I realized how much a teacher's eyes influence the atmosphere of a virtual class. As we shared our experiences, We discussed simple strategies that actually work, such as calling students by name, asking short questions throughout the lesson, using facial expressions to show excitement, and changing voice tone to keep the lesson lively. I also learned that students lose focus when the teacher talks for too long without involving them. One point that stayed with me was that engagement doesn't happen by chance—it comes from creating frequent opportunities for students to participate.

Breakout Room 2

In Breakout Room 2, we reflected on why the early Christians gathered together after believing in Jesus, as described in the Book of Acts. Listening to everyone's thoughts helped me see that faith grows much better in a community than in isolation. We talked about how believers encourage one another, pray together, study God's Word, and support each other through challenges. One observation that stood out to me was that the early church was committed to meeting regularly because they understood the value of fellowship and accountability. Our discussion reminded me that attending church is not simply about fulfilling a routine but about growing spiritually while helping others grow as well.

*4. ESL SKILL VIDEO (10 POINTS)*

Film a 1-2 minutes video. Practice the different situations for students and teachers' eyes: during teacher talking time, group work, individual work, beginning of the class and end of the class. Choose the topic you want.

*5. ESL RESEARCH (05 POINTS)*

Do some research online and find an article or video that talks about teachers eyes during the classroom. Post a link to the video and share 3 things you learned about it.

Answer

https://iccomipe.org/the-power-of-eye-contact-a-guide-for-teachers-to-enhance-classroom-dynamics/

The article's core claim is that eye contact isn't a soft skill teachers can take or leave — it's structural to how a classroom functions. It signals to students that they are being actively listened to and valued, creating a sense of shared focus and a more interactive learning experience Strip that away, and even well-planned lessons can feel like they're being delivered at students rather than with them.

What's more interesting is how the article separates *attention* from *trust* — two things eye contact does simultaneously but differently. Beyond engagement, eye contact is described as a foundation for trust and rapport, signaling genuineness, empathy, and sincere interest in students' well-being, and creating a sense of safety and psychological comfort in the room That's a distinction worth sitting with: a teacher can hold a room's attention through volume or pacing alone, but trust seems to run through the eyes specifically.

The most useful detail, though, is the smallest one. Making eye contact when greeting and praising students helps create a positive first impression and reinforces a lasting sense of recognition , a reminder that the biggest impact often comes from the shortest moments, not sustained gazing across a 50-minute lesson.

A second source, a classic TESL/TEFL piece by Darn, adds a practical edge to this: teachers are advised to arrive before their students and welcome them individually with eye contact and their name as they enter the room [I-TESL-J](http://iteslj.org/Techniques/Darn-EyeContact.html) . It's a small ritual, but it front-loads the whole "trust and attention" argument into the first thirty seconds of class

*7. BIBLE QUESTIONS (10 POINTS)*

IMPORTANT: Make sure your answer is 3 sentences or more:

A. In Exodus 3:14 we see God give His name when people ask Moses who sent him. Spend some time and research the meaning of this name, “I AM WHO I AM”

Answer:

As I read Exodus 3:14, I paused to think about why God introduced Himself to Moses as "I AM WHO I AM." Looking into the meaning of the name helped me understand that God was assuring Moses that He is eternal, self-existent, and not limited by time or circumstances. What stood out to me was that God didn't give Moses a detailed explanation of how everything would work out; instead, He revealed who He is. That made me realize that Moses' confidence wasn't supposed to come from his own ability but from the unchanging God who had promised to be with him. Reading this passage reminded me that God's character remains constant even when our circumstances change.

B. Share one thing you learned from this week's reading in Acts.

Answer:

While reading Acts 15, I was struck by how the apostles handled a difficult disagreement within the early church. Instead of allowing the issue to divide them, they came together, listened carefully to one another, reflected on what God had already been doing among the Gentiles, and sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit before reaching a decision. What stood out to me was that they didn't rush to defend personal opinions—they were genuinely looking for God's direction. Reading this chapter reminded me that unity is built through humility, honest discussion, and a willingness to put God's will above personal preferences.

*8. THE CHOSEN (10 POINTS)*

Watch this episode of the Chosen.

Season 4 Episode 2

EPISODE LINK: https://watch.thechosen.tv/video/184683596183?language=en

After watching the episode of The Chosen, answer the following questions:

A. Which scene or conversation with Jesus impacted you the most? Describe what happened.

Answer:

The conversation that stayed with me the most was when Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do you say I am?" in Matthew 16:13–20. At first, the disciples mentioned what other people were saying about Jesus—some thought He was John the Baptist, Elijah, or one of the prophets. Then Jesus made it personal by asking them who they believed He was. Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus told him that this understanding came from God and not from human reasoning.

What struck me was that Jesus wasn't looking for the popular opinion. He wanted to know what His disciples truly believed after spending time with Him.

B. What did this scene teach you about Jesus and His character?

Answer:

This scene showed me that Jesus was deeply interested in His disciples' personal faith, not just what they had heard from other people. When He asked, "Who do you say I am?", He was inviting them to answer from their own experience of walking with Him.

I liked the way Jesus responded to Peter. He didn't simply praise him; He pointed out that Peter's understanding came from God. That reminded me that faith is something God helps us develop, not just something we figure out on our own.

After watching this scene, I came away with a deeper appreciation for Jesus' wisdom, humility, and love. He meets people where they are and gently leads them toward a stronger faith.

C. Which Bible passage is this scene based on? (If you know it.)

Answer:

Mathew 16:13-20

D. How can you apply this truth to your daily walk with Christ?

Write at least 8–10 sentences.

Answer:

Applying this truth every day isn't always as straightforward as it sounds. There are moments when I want to handle things on my own instead of stopping to pray first, but I've noticed that those are usually the times I become the most stressed. I'm still learning that trusting Christ is a daily choice, not something I get right all the time. Sometimes obedience is uncomfortable, especially when it means forgiving someone or waiting patiently instead of taking matters into my own hands. Even so, I've seen that following His way brings more peace than following my emotions. When I fail, I remind myself that God's grace is there to help me get back up rather than stay discouraged. I also realize that my faith grows most during difficult seasons, even though I rarely enjoy them while they're happening. My goal is simply to keep walking with Christ each day, trusting that He is changing me little by little.
