Answer the following question: Did you complete all the Bible reading for this project list?

Answer:

Yes I did

*5. BIBLE QUESTIONS (10 POINTS)*

In Genesis 34 we see an example of revenge. When we read the Bible it’s important to understand the difference between DESCRIPTIVE Bible verses and PRESCRIPTIVE Bible verses. A descriptive Bible verse is describing what happened. Just because something is written in the Bible doesn’t mean that is what God wanted. It’s just a description and report of what happened.

Prescriptive Bible verses are different. These Bible verses are commands from God and things we MUST do. Jesus tells us very clearly in Mark 12:30 that the greatest command is to love God with all our heart. This is prescriptive and something we must do.

Share in your own words what is the difference between a description and prescriptive Bible verse.

Answer :

A descriptive Bible verse tells us what happened in a story. It simply records events as they occurred. Just as we read in Genesis 34 it describes Simeon and Levi taking revenge

A prescriptive Bible verse shows God's commands and how He wants us to live. These are instructions we are expected to follow. Eg in Exodus 20:3 – "You shall have no other gods before me."This is an instruction, not an option or narration.

*6. FILM A VIDEO (20 POINTS)*

Your goal as an ESL teacher is to PERSONALIZE your classes. This is skill #5. It’s very important to use quick personal interactions with your students. Your goal should be to use each of their names several times. You also need to watch for students that are bored or distracted and use their name to reconnect them to class. Be very careful of any personal interactions that last longer than 5-10 seconds. Long personal interactions will cause you to lose the rest of the class. Film a 1 minute video teaching any material you would like. During the teaching time, demonstrate your ability to create quick, personal interactions with students. Post your video.

*7. ESL RESEARCH (10 POINTS)*

From your point of view, how can a teacher manage to personalize the class in a large online class? How does personalizing the class help students and teachers?

Answer:

In a large online class, teachers can make learning more personal by using the students' names  make sure to pronounce them well, encouraging participation, and give opportunities for small group discussions and individual feedback.

This helps students feel included, builds their confidence, and keeps them engaged. It also  creates a more positive and effective learning environment.

*8. THE CHOSEN (10 POINTS)*

Watch this episode of the Chosen.

Season 3 Episode 5

EPISODE LINK: https://watch.thechosen.tv/video/184683594328?language=en

What is one thing you liked or learned?

Answer:

Wow,I love the chosen, but this episode was fire!

One thing that really stood out to me in this episode was the faith and perseverance of the people who came to Jesus.

Veronica's story reminded me that no matter how long a person has been struggling, there is always hope in Christ. I was also inspired by Jairus because he chose to trust Jesus even in a desperate situation. This episode encouraged me to keep believing God, even when answers don't come immediately. It spoke to me on a very personal note,It reminded me that God is still in the business of doing miracles aand nothing is impossible for Him.

Spend some time and think about if you have any family sins that have passed from generation to generation. (Examples: Alcohol abuse, unfaithfulness in marriage, anger, greed, pride, gossip, etc) Write down in your journal all your family sins. Be praying that God could help you be the generation to break this family sin. Leave a comment if you were able to do this.

Answer:

Yes I did this

B. In Genesis 30 we see an example of a person trying to solve a problem in their own way instead of trusting God. What happened?

Answer:

Rachel was heartbroken by her inability to have children and tried to fix the situation herself by giving Bilhah to Jacob. Leah did something similar, leading to jealousy, rivalry, and family tension. In the end, God answered Rachel's prayers and gave her a son, Joseph. The story reminds us that taking matters into our own hands can create more problems, while trusting God's timing brings peace and fulfillment.

C. Share one thing you learned from Genesis 31.

Answer :

One thing I learnt from Genesis 31 is that God sees our struggles and protects us. Even when Jacob was treated unfairly, he trusted God's leading and moved forward in obedience. In our lives we are encouraged  to trust that God is with us through life's challenges.

D. PERSONAL JOURNAL: In Genesis 33 we see that two brothers made peace after a long time of separation and broken relationship. Is there anyone that God is asking you to make peace with in your life? *4. FILM VIDEO (15 POINTS)*

Film a 1 minute video where you use ENGLISH ONLY and you pretend to roleplay with a group of students. While you roleplay, it’s very important not to talk and talk and talk and tell the students how to role play. Pretend you are teaching a group of children that speak VERY limited English and they won’t understand you. You need to teach them how to roleplay by just starting to roleplay and demonstrating the activity.

Important things to remember:

- Don’t explain how to roleplay, just start doing it.

- Very important to use props, pictures, hand gestures, whole body movement.

- Pick students that might be more advanced at first to help other students understand.

- If a student doesn’t know what to do, help them or have another student help.

- Be creative in how to roleplay conversations. Use lots of props, pictures, hand motions, whole body movements, etc.

- Find ways to make it fun and get students laughing.

- Limit how much time all the students are watching you and another student roleplay. If they are watching, they will lose focus. Goal is to get all the students matched with someone and practicing the roleplay at the same time.

- While roleplaying, be careful to use English only!

Film a 1 minute video roleplaying the follow activity:

Person #1: Hi _(student’s name)_, How are you today?

Person #2: “I am ______” Pick up an emoji on a stick and say the English word. (I am HAPPY)

Person #1: Why are you _______? (Student repeats the emoji #2 picked: Why are you HAPPY?)

Person #2: I am happy because I ________ (Actions: ie. ate cookies.)

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%2021&version=NLT

Genesis 26:

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%2026&version=NLT

Answer the following question: Did you complete all the Bible reading for this project list?

*6.BIBLE QUESTIONS (10 POINTS)*

IMPORTANT: Make sure your answer is 3 sentences or more:

A. In Genesis 20 we see that Abraham lied in order to take care of a problem. When we face problems or fears, how should we handle them in a God honoring way?

When we face problems or fears,we have to bring it to God in prayer,And trust in his faithfulness.Abraham lied about his wife being his sister which was wrong. A God-honoring way to handle problems is not to deny our fears but to place them in God's hands and act according to His truth.

B. In Genesis 21, we see that God fulfilled his promise to Abraham and Sarah. We can see that God’s timing can be VERY different from our timing. Can you give an example of how we can sin while waiting for God in His perfect timing? What things should we do while we wait for God?

We can sin from impatience, doubt, and trying to make God's promise come according to our human timetable or thinking, which Sarah did when she gave her slave girl Hagar  to Abraham to have a child with.

While waiting on the promises of God ,we should always pray, study God's words, trust in his promises and thank him, even when his promises has not manifested.

C. In Genesis 26 we see that God appeared to Isaac. Why did God appear to him and what did he say?

God's encounter with Isaac was to reaffirm his convenant with his father,he also told him not to go to Egypt that where is is he will bless him

This shows that when life feels uncertain, God can provide the direction and reassurance we need.  Isaac trusted God's instructions and relied on His promises. In the same way, we are encouraged to trust that God is with us, follow His leading, and remain confident that He will keep His promises, even when circumstances are difficult or unclear.

*7. TRAUMA INFORMED TEACHER (10 POINTS)*

As a counselor, it’s important to remember that children who have experienced trauma need to verbalize that trauma. Verbalizing trauma is important for many reasons.

Students from difficult backgrounds may have come to false conclusions in their own mind. For example, a child who was abandoned may have created a false conclusion that her parents left because she behaved badly. Although this isn’t accurate, the child may have come to this conclusion in an effort to explain something that makes no sense to her. Conclusions like this are a form of self-protection.

A. Students who have experienced trauma may be confused, and if you as the teacher-counselor can understand the child’s perspective, you will be better equipped to support the child and work through the struggles with them. You will also be working from the basis of the child’s thoughts, rather than your own expectations and opinions.

What are some potential conclusions that a child could come to after experiencing different types of trauma. Share 1 idea below.

One of the conclusions a child can come to after trauma is that they are not loveable,That something is wrong with them and that they deserve what they went through. Its important to know this as a teacher counselor so when those thoughts creep in you know what to do.

B. There are some practical steps that you can take to encourage students to verbalize trauma. For example:

- Create an environment of felt safety.

- Build a relationship of trust with the students in your care.

- Be on the lookout for signs of trauma in your classroom.

- Ask questions when you suspect trauma.

- Help a student put words to their feelings.

- Repeat what the student says back to them to make sure you understand clearly.

Students may also be trying to punish themselves for the trauma that occurred. It is important for you as the teacher-counselor to be able to understand this and protect the child from any potential self-harm or self-punishment that may be occurring.

Write a few sentences about why it would be important for you to avoid impressing your own expectations and opinions onto a child who has experienced trauma.

It’s important not to push your own assumptions or expectations onto a child who has gone through trauma because they may already feel misunderstood or unheard. When you listen calmly and without judgment, you give the child space to share their own thoughts and experiences in their own way. This helps them feel safe, valued, and respected. Over time, that sense of safety builds trust and encourages them to open up and begin working through what they’ve been through in a healthier way.

C. PRIVATE JOURNAL: Spend some time thinking about this need to verbalize trauma. Did you experience any traumatic events as a child? Did you have a safe adult to verbalize that trauma to? How could you learn from your experiences and use them to support the children in your care? Don’t post your answer to this question. Leave a comment confirming that you have completed this assignment.

*6. BIBLE QUESTIONS (10 POINTS)*

IMPORTANT: Make sure your answer is 3 sentences or more:

A. IN Genesis 15 we see that God makes a covenant with Abram (Abraham). What was the Covenant that God made?

In Genesis 15, God established a covenant with Abraham, promising him many descendants and the land of Canaan. This covenant was based entirely on God's faithfulness and commitment, not on Abraham's actions. It highlights God's enduring promise and His desire to maintain a lasting relationship with His people.

C. In Genesis 16 we see that Abram and Sarai tried to fulfill God’s promise on their own. What did they do?

In Genesis 16, Abraham and Sarah struggled to wait for God’s promise to be fulfilled so Sarah gave her servant Hagar to Abraham so that he could have a child through her. Hagar later gave birth to Ishmael, but this decision led to tension, sadness and conflict within the household. The story shows the challenges that can arise when people rely on their own plans instead of trusting God’s timing.

E. IN Genesis 17 we see God promise to bless Abraham if Abraham was faithful to obey the terms of the covenant. Just like Abraham, God has made a new covenant to you. What covenant has God made to you and share a Bible verse that describes the new covenant.

In Genesis 17, God renews His covenant with Abraham and calls him to live faithfully in obedience. In the same way, God’s new covenant with me is His promise never to forsake me or leave me alone, even in difficult times. This covenant is fulfilled through Jesus Christ. As it is written in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” reminding me that God remains faithful no matter the circumstances.

*7. TRAUMA INFORMED TEACHER (10 POINTS)*

Teacher counselors need to be able to help students VERBALIZE trauma. In order to verbalize trauma it is critical that you create a classroom environment with FELT SAFETY. Here’s how to create felt safety:

- Students feel free to make mistakes and fail while learning

- Students learn that making mistakes are expected and part of the learning process.

- Mistakes and the learning effort are celebrated.

- Students are not worried about getting bullied.

- Students know you will protect them and be there for them if there is a problem.

- Students know that you pray for them. They know you care and love them!

- You teach students about Jesus and His love for them.

- You show students their incredible value and worth and that they are made in God’s image.

- You build memories and have a good time with your students. You look for ways to emotionally connect with them.

- You have emotional intelligence and are aware of how your students are feeling.

- You are watching for small problems and frustrations before they get big.

- You are aware of non-verbal communication.

- You diffuse situations and anger by redirection and play.

- You as a teacher are consistent, structured, and predictable. Your classroom feels safe.

- Students clearly understand the rules and expectations in class.

- You celebrate your students and their homework in front of the class.

- You help put words to a student’s feelings and actions.

- You as a teacher are vulnerable with students and share hard things in your life.

- You spend time with children at their tables. You sit with them and are relatable.

- As a teacher, you are patient and kind with difficult students.

- You never lose control and yell at students.

- If you make a mistake, you apologize to students. You are humble.

When you create FELT safety in a classroom it opens the door for a student to be able to verbalize personal and traumatic experiences. Answer the following questions:

A. Spend some time researching how to create felt safety in a classroom. Share the link to the article and one thing you learned from the article.

https://www.movethisworld.com/classroom-resources/2018-10-26-how-to-make-your-classroom-a-safe-space/

From the above article I learnt that When examining the need for classroom safe spaces in school, we can refer to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. In this theory motivation is comprised of five different levels of basic human needs. Starting at the bottom of the hierarchy, the needs are: physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. When we reach self-actualization, we are reaching our greatest potential. However, in order to reach this level in the hierarchy our more basic needs must be met first. This means that our students need to feel safe and supported in order to reach their greatest potential.

B. Look at the list above of all the important things a teacher needs to do in order to create felt safety. What three things seems the most difficult to accomplish for you?

From the list you above three areas that may be the most challenging for me to consistently achieve are:

1. Never losing control or yelling at students , especially in stressful or disruptive moments.

2. Always being consistent, structured, and predictable – Maintaining this every single day, even under pressure or fatigue, can be difficult.

3. Being emotionally aware of every student’s feelings at all times – Reading non-verbal cues and responding appropriately requires constant attention and emotional energy.

I find  these difficult because they require ongoing self-awareness, patience, and emotional strength, especially in busy or challenging classroom environments.

C. Have you ever attended a class where you learned from a teacher that created a learning environment with felt safety. Think back of all your classes you have taken since you were a child. Try to identify one teacher that created felt safety. What did they do and how did they make you feel safe?

I recently had a certification course and one of our Facilitators Dr Noimot is a gem,a guru at communication. Her class is always a safe space because she insists nothing you say is wrong, just a different opinion from others. It made me less self aware and always willing to put myself out there because I know that even when I am wrong she will correct me beautifully.

*8. TEAM BUILDING PROJECT #1 (10 POINTS)*

Next week you will be learning more details about the first team building project you will work on. It includes building a tent fort and sleeping in your tent fort overnight. Important, do not build a tent fort yet. You will be building the tent fort after the next class. Answer the following question about team building project #1:

A. As you have gotten older, have any of these things happened to you?

- Become more boring

- Stuck in doing the same thing

- Less flexible to new things

- Lose your sense of adventure.

Yes I have definitely lost my sense of adventure and I am stuck doing the same things, afraid to try new things.

B. As we get older, how can we keep our sense of adventure and guard against becoming grumpy and set in our ways?

As we get older, keeping our sense of adventure means deliberately keeping curiosity alive and avoiding rigid routines. It helps to try new experiences, stay open to discomfort, and welcome different perspectives instead of shutting them out. Good physical health and social interaction also support a more positive, flexible mindset. Overall, it’s about choosing curiosity and openness so we don’t become fixed in our ways.

SPECIAL NOTE: PARTY

In the next class we will have a party. Make sure to prepare a special food from your country. Post a picture to the group WhatsApp of the food you are making before class starts. Also when you come to class, make sure to wear as MUCH ORANGE as possible. If you don’t have orange clothes, paint some orange paper you can tape to yourself.

Yes I read the above chapters

*5. BIBLE QUESTIONS (10 POINTS)*

IMPORTANT: Make sure your answer is 3 sentences or more:

a. in Genesis 9 we see God make the Noahic Covenant. This is really significant. Can you research what is the Noahic Covenant and share what you learned about this covenant?

The Noahic covenant is Gods promise to Noah,  his children and all generation after the flood that wiped the world ,Its an unconditional covenant  to Noah and  his descendants and as well as every living creature and this was sealed with the rainbow .This covenant is based on Gods faithfulness,so even if we fail him or sin against him,he will never use anger to wipe the whole world through flood.God is mercy himself and is always faithful to his covenant and his people

b. In Genesis 11 we see that God created the languages of the world. It’s interesting thinking that you might not be taking this course and learning how to teach a language if it wasn’t for the events that happened in Genesis 11. Spend some time and research what was the problem with building the tower of Babel? What was the sin issue?

After the great flood, God told the people to multiply and spread over all the earth, rather the people decided to build a city that will get to heaven, and this offended God.They felt they were on the same level as God.

On the issue of sin was disobedience ,they disobeyed Gods explicit command, they were arrogant and seek to reach heaven to make a name for themselves, this angered God and he confused their language so they no longer understood each other and so they scattered all over the world.

c. In Genesis 12 we see God make the Abrahamic Covenant. Research what the Abrahmic Covenant is and share what you learned about this covenant?

Abrahamic covenant is Gods promises to Abraham ,it is 3 fold

1.God promised Abraham land Gen 12:1

2.God said from him will come a great nation, despite no children from his wife Gen12:2

3.Through Gods blessing of Abraham and his descendants the whole world would be blessed.

This was the beginning of God's journey with Abraham, which has been passed down for generations till me.

d. In Genesis 12:3 we see another glimpse of God’s heart to redeem the world. Research online why Genesis 12:3 is so significant.

Genesis12:3 is Gods promise to bless anyone who blesses Abraham and and who ever curses him ,God will curse and all people on earth will be blessed through Abraham. This promise was never on merit, rather by Gods grace to Abraham.thats why its so significant, because it establishes Gods redemptive plan for humanity.

e. When God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 12:3, God was thinking about you! That’s pretty amazing. Spend some time and write down some thoughts about this fact.

Yes,i know that God is love,he always does things for us not by out merit, but because of his immense love for us,He made a convent with all mankind and plans to redeem us always.Thats why he sent his only begotten son to die for me,how could I not be in awe of this God?

*6. ESL 1 MINUTE VIDEO (10 POINTS)*

In class, we talked about the importance of redesigning your lesson plans to make sure students are talking and moving 50% of the time. We have to be very careful that when we teach a lesson plan, we don’t just talk and talk and talk. Before teaching the class, we must take time to find ways to make the lesson plan interactive.

Your goal is to film a 1-minute video and teach any lesson plan you would like. Your goal is to make sure that while you teach in the video, you demonstrate the ability to be creative and keep students talking and moving 50% of the time. Post your video to this group.

*7. ESL RESEARCH (10 POINTS)*

Write a complete paragraph answering the following question: How technology helps teachers to have students talking and moving 50%? Make sure to support your answers with other authors and make the proper quotation.

Technology helps teachers create more engaging and student-centered classrooms where learners actively participate instead of simply listening to the teacher. Tools such as Kahoot!, Quizizz, Padlet, and Google Docs encourage students to discuss ideas, work together, solve problems, and share their thoughts. In addition, activities like QR-code scavenger hunts, station rotations, and digital learning games get students moving around the classroom while they learn. Research shows that when technology is used purposefully, it can increase student engagement and participation, making learning more interactive and meaningful (Schindler et al., 2017). Likewise, Bond and Bedenlier (2019) emphasize that technology has great potential to promote collaboration and active learning.

*8. TRAUMA INFORMED TEACHER (10 POINTS)*
